Thanasis Giannakopoulos

Researcher with a strong background in physics, mathematics, and numerical modelling. I am happy to discuss opportunities where I can leverage my expertise and problem-solving skills in addressing real-world challenges.

I am an ice modeller at the British Antarctic Survey, working on ice damage processes. Previously, I was a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of Nottingham, where I performed numerical simulations of gravitational systems. In January 2025, as part of the C-DICE challenge hosted by the Alan Turing Institute, I collaborated with a multidisciplinary team to develop an optimization framework aimed at supporting the UK’s net-zero energy targets.
